This Pecan tree grove, consisting of hundreds of trees, was laid out long ago in a fairly precise grid. It reminds me of pictures of Arlington Cemetery, where every direction you look you see straight lines. I was trying to capture a feeling of this symmetry in this morning’s photo. The pecan crop this fall was considerably down due to the horribly hot and dry summer which seemed to last forever. Because of the limited supply, the price of these nuts is as high as I’ve ever seen. “Pecan” is from a native Algonquian Indian word meaning a nut requiring a stone to crack.
