Lichen is a symbiotic organism consisting of a fungus and a green alga. The alga provides nutrients by way of photosynthesis while the fungus provides protection to the alga by retaining water as well as other benefits. This one sort of has a flower appearance.

I’ve been a fan of lichens for many years. This has awakened some memories that will, I’m sure, lead to a near-future post on some of my favorite lichens. Thanks again, Frank, for being a faithful follower.
